SAN FRANCISCO’S 25% PARKING TAX EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2023
The city and county of San Francisco will begin collecting the mandated 25% parking tax from all drivers who park on campus, as ordered by the California Supreme Court. This 25% parking tax will be added to the cost of all parking permits sold on campus or through payroll deduction, which includes daily, semester and annual permits, with the exception of on-campus resident student semester permits.
For payroll deduction permits, parking tax will be added starting with May paycheck which pays for June permit. San Francisco State University has not increased its rates for parking permits.
More information on the ruling can be found in this San Francisco Chronicle article.
